Mekong Delta city looks to Russia for aquaculture investment

A delegation from the Mekong Delta, Vietnam city of Can Tho has attracted interest in seafood production and processing investments from Russia, reports Vietnam Plus.

A delegation from the Mekong Delta, Vietnam city of Can Tho has attracted interest in seafood production and processing investments from Russia, reports Vietnam Plus.

Opening the Moscow conference, Vietnamese ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh said this was the first time Can Tho had held such conference in the European country to seek cooperation opportunities with local partners.

Local government stressed it would look to create optimal conditions for partnerships with Russian enterprises.

Since the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union took effect, bilateral trade has grown considerably, with the Mekong Delta, including Can Tho, supplying a large volume of aquatic products for export.

Can Tho wishes to attract more investment in such exports from with Russian companies, and many Russian firms expressed their interest in cooperation, Vietnamese officials said.

Enterprises from the two sides apparently inked several memoranda of understanding on the export of glucozamin extracted from shrimp shells to Russia, aquaculture, and seafood trading.
