The joint production of pharmaceutical products, transfer of technology and establishment of long-term mutually beneficial contacts in a wide range of areas have been discussed in the course of a working meeting held between Denis Maturov, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Ahmad Radi, the Minister of Health and Population of Egypt.

According to Denis Manturov, various patterns of cooperation are possible, including the supplying of Russian substances to make ready products in Egypt locally. He reminded that the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade was undertaking work jointly with interested organizations to create a Russian industrial zone in the east part of Port Said in Egypt that may be used as a site for joint production facilities.

The Chief of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade told his Egyptian colleagues that Russian companies had a powerful technology platform to successfully compete with foreign peers with pharmacologists making not only generics bust also innovative medicines. Denis Manturov expressed his hope that the negotiations would result in the Egyptian party expressing interest in proposals put forward by Russian pharmaceutical companies.
