French company to boost production capacities in Ulyanovsk Region

An investment agreement in respect of a facility that is going to manufacture low-voltage switching equipment has been signed by Governor Sergei Morozov of the Ulyanovsk Region, Alexis Konan, the CEO of Legrand Group in Russia and CIS countries, and Sergei Vasin, the President of the Regional Development Corporation, during the 5^th International Power Energy Forum on Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation 2016.

"We are glad that many our partners, including foreign ones, do not stop at what they have reached and continue to expand their production capacities in the Ulyanovsk Region. This can be vividly exemplified by French company Legrand that is going to have constructed by 2018 its second plant in Ulyanovsk by investing not less than RUB 1 billion in the construction", Sergei Morozov noted.

The investor is going to erect a new facility to manufacture LV switching gear with a total area exceeding 22 thousand square meters in the territory of Zavolzhye Industrial Park in 2018. 300 new job opportunities will be created for the residents of the Region. The Ulyanovsk based facility will manufacture plastic cable ways, automatic circuit breakers, cable trays, transformers and other electrical products.

"We still see high investment potential featured by the Russian economy. That is why we do not stop our development in this Region but enhance it. Today, up to 35% of the product range manufactured by Legrand and represented in Russia is produced here. We plan to raise this figure to 50% in 2018. Our cooperation with the Ulyanovsk Region is shaping very constructively as we treat it as a reliable partner and, therefore, are implementing the new project in its area," Alexis Konan, the CEO of Legrand Group in Russia and CIS countries, told.

Two plants owned by Legrand already operate in the Ulyanovsk Region. Today, popular electric installations, module equipment and containment products, including those designed in Russia, are manufactured in Russia under Legrand's brand.
