Ulyanovsk strengthens relations with China: region to host Russian-Chinese cement plant

The construction of a cement plant is going to commence soon in the Terengul District of the Ulyanovsk Region. This came to light in the course of a meeting held between Governor Sergey Morozov of the Region and members of a delegation from the Anhui Province. The bilateral agreement envisaging the construction of the joint venture enterprise was entered into between the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation and Conch Cement Company.

The facility would daily produce 5 thousand tonnes of cement. Investments will total $500 million. According to Liu Lee, a Deputy Governor of Anhui, the Chinese investors hope to receive support in connection with their project. Sergei Morozov noted that the most comfortable conditions had been established for this purpose in the Ulyanovsk Region.

Sergey Morozov also held a meeting with members of a delegation from the Hunan Province. The parties discussed their cooperation options in various areas. Special focus was made on tourism. Sergey Morozov expressed confidence that the 'Red Route' project would be successfully implemented.

Alongside this, the meeting discussed the potential creation of a joint facility to recycle solid domestic wastes. It is too early to say how long the implementation will take place. It should be noted, however, that the Province Government is ready to come up with a ready design package for consideration. Furthermore, the Chinese proposed to make joint efforts to develop sports facilities and even hold friendly team games.
