Schneider Electric will go on developing production and R&D in Russia

As part of the 18th International Coal Preparation Congress taking place in Saint Petersburg, Russia's Minister of Power Economy Alexander Novak, CEO of Schneider Electric's Russian operations Johan Vanderplaetse and President of the Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko have opened a Competence Center for Research and Education.

Schneider Electric's Competence Center based on Russia's oldest technical university comprises an up-to-date training facility and laboratories in which the corporation has invested some RUB 9 million. The Center will be used to conduct researches in the automation of energy and technology processes, energy efficiency and energy management.

Before opening the educational platform, CEO of Schneider Electric's Russian and CIS operations Johan Vanderplaetse noted that the implementation by the corporation of R&D and educational projects in Russia is of long-term and strategic nature: "Not so long ago, we executed an agreement for opening our R&D center in Skolkovo where our experts would deal with the management of electric grids and solutions designed for the oil and gas sector. It is long time since the company has been fruitfully cooperating with Rosseti and Rosatom in the development of technology which is required for our Russian production sites and facilities operated by our Russian partners".
