Japanese businessmen are ready to invest into the creation of joint fish processing and agricultural enterprises in the Primorye Territory. These topics were discussed in the course of a bilateral meeting held between Vice Governor Sergey Sidorenko of the Primorye Territory and Deputy Director of the International Relations Department, Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Industry, Kadzasima Tasuya.

Before attending at the meeting in the Primorye Territory's Administration, the Japanese delegation visited several agricultural and fish processing plants and inspected operations of the Region's transport and logistics network.

"One of the main goals of our meeting is a dialog focusing on potential for expanding exports of wheat, barley, soy and corn from Primorye to Japan. We saw Primorye as a place featuring great potential for growing cereal crops. We are also really interested in fish processing as enterprises of the Primorye Territory have reached a certain level in this area", Kadzasima Tasuya noted.

Moreover, Kadzasima Tasuya is considering an option providing for the transfer by Japanese fishing companies of their capacities to the Territory.

"The interest shown today by Japanese businesses in the Russian Far East is unprecedented. The Japanese government aims to use this situation to establish joint cooperation", Mr. Tasuya said.

In his turn, Sergey Sidorenko noted that Primorye businesses are also very interested in cooperation between our countries.

"We are extremely interested in Russian and Japanese businesses creating shared production facilities. I hope sincerely that our today's conversation will facilitate the implementation of joint projects", Mr. Sidorenko summarized.
