Representatives of the PRC have arrived at the Irkutsk Region saying they are ready to invest funds to develop tourism in the Region. Sergey Levchenko, the Governor of the Region, has met the delegation of investors and travel industry experts from China. According to the Chinese party, its interest is focused on the hospitality segment, eco and wellness tourism and operational potential for comfortable and environmentally friendly vessels to run at the Baikal Lake and along the Yenisei River.

"The Baikal Lake is the most promising area for our travelers. We hope that over time our joint efforts will result in Baikal being capable of accepting 1 million of Chinese tourist annually. The inflow of Chinese tourists in the Irkutsk Region has recently increased by 50% so it is entirely possible to achieve the goals we set. The Baikal Lake is a super resource", Vey Syaoan, the Responsible Secretary of the Chinese Tourist Association's Tourism Department, said.

The joint efforts in the Angara Region will result in the creation of the following two documents: proposals on tourism development at Baikal and a list of intended facilities and investments. The investors have noted that they are ready to invest into the Irkutsk Region's infrastructure and development of transport hubs.
