The Finnish Ambassador highly appraises Fortum Corporation's Russian operations

As part of his official visit to Tyumen and participation in the 3rd Tyumen Investment Forum, Hannu Himanen, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to the Russian Federation, who headed a Finnish business delegation, has visited Tyumen Thermal Power Plant No.1 being a member of the Fortum power corporation's Russian Division.

"I'm impressed with the visit to Tyumen TPP 1 – it is in good order, clean and effectively operates. The station has been fully completed and this is a spectacular example showing how greatly foreign investments deliver to the Tyumen Region's economy. There are definite challenges in developing the thermal business. We hope government authorities will make decisions that will support the unique cogeneration development concept as this does a good job globally and Tyumen residents will benefit from it", Hannu Himanen, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to the Russian Federation, noted.

On 1 March 2016, Fortum Corporation announced that it had completed the implementation of its EUR 2.5 billion investment programme in Russia. From 2008 through 2011, it constructed and commissioned 8 gas-powered generating sets whose aggregate capacity is around 2,400 MW and which are underlain by innovative process solutions. Of these, about 1,700 MW were constructed in the Tyumen Region – Tyumen, Tobolsk and Nyagan (Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District, Yugra).

Participation in the creation of renewable power generation was Fortum's new step in Russia – in December 2015 the Corporation won a power take-off projects competition thanks to its Ulyanovsk 35 MW wind farm project. The total amount to be invested in the project is estimated at EUR 65 million.
