Iranians intend to develop tourism in Dagestan

SHASTA, an Iranian investment group, intends to deal with tourist projects in Dagestan. A cooperation agreement was executed in Tehran, as reported by the Press Office of the Republic's Ministry of Tourism. "The agreement provides for the studying of Dagestan's investment sites suitable for constructing hotel facilities. Moreover, the investment group plans to explore our Republic's balneological segment to promote wellness and health tourism", a TASS representative of the authority told. In particular, this is about arranging a pilgrimage tour, tourist exchange and supporting folk crafts and trades. Furthermore, the potential launching of flights from Dagestan to Kish Island (Iranian beach resort) is being discussed. Iran is Dagestan's key trade partner with their trade turnovers from January through November totaling $72.7 million including $63.75 million of import operations.
