A pectin plant to be erected in the Belgorod Region

A member of Magnus Union (LLC VPZ MAGNUS), an investment consortium, is going to construct a pectin plant in two years in the Belgorod Region (pectin is a gelifier used in the pharmaceuticals and food industries). According to the Regional Government, the project will cost more than RUB 4 billion.

A member of Magnus Union (LLC VPZ MAGNUS), an investment consortium, is going to construct a pectin plant in two years in the Belgorod Region (pectin is a gelifier used in the pharmaceuticals and food industries). According to the Regional Government, the project will cost more than RUB 4 billion.

The plant is expected to be launched in early 2018. The plant will produce about 1,000 tonnes of finished product designed for the confectionery and pharmaceutical segments of the industries. Wastes generated by manufacturers of apple juice and pressers will be used as raw materials for the production. The plant will create 120 job opportunities offering a monthly average salary of RUB 25,000.

There are virtually no pectin production facilities in Russia currently. Demand for this product is completely satisfied by the country's enterprises using imported supplies. The country purchases import pectin (pectin containing ingredients) for more than US$90 million on a monthly basis with the purchases of pectin-containing medications totaling more than US$100 million. In 2010, Russia imported 2,503 tonnes of pectin. The pectin segment has shown a stable growth for the last several years.
