American company National Oilwell Varco invested more than 4 billion rubles in the construction of high-technology drilling equipment plant NOV Costroma LLC, according to regional authorities.
The biggest in the region manufacture of equipment for oil and gas drilling is located in industrial park Volgorechensky 40 kilometer from Kostroma, next door to the biggest in Europe power plant (Kostroma GRES power plant) and Volgorechensk pipe plant, another industrial giant. The new plant will produce drilling rigs of different lifting capacity and servicing rigs for wells and other equipment. The company plans to sell its products in the domestic market and to export to European countries.
The construction started 3 years ago, when the project was included in the regional register of investment projects and received the most favoured nation treatment. The region subsidized an access road construction at the cost of 24,5 million rubles and a connection to the natural gas network.
Economic sanctions between Russia and USA didn’t impede the construction. The new plant will employ more than 300 workers.
