Sergey Burkatovsky known as one of the creators of the popular online game World of Tanks, invested 5 million rubles in the Russian start-up “Lin Industrial”, which is developing an ultralight rocket “Taimyr”. The same amount was granted by Skolkovo Space Technologies and Telecommunications Cluster, Firrma reports.

“Taimyr” rockets will be able to launch a working load of 10 to 180 kg into the space and to place satellites into any low earth or sun synchronous orbit, without satellite construction limitations. A period from contract making to launching will be up to 3 months, by contrast with nearest competitor’s 9 months.

The firm’s general manager Alexey Kaltushkin said, that “Lin Industrial” has already agreed to cooperate with Russian satellite manufacturing companies “Sputniks” and “Quazar Space”. “These companies are interested in “Taimyr” placing their satellites into orbit”, he said.

“Lin Industrial” plans to develop a working rocket prototype in three stages: a preliminary design of the rocket in 2016, a high-level prototype and launching to the height of 100 km in 2016-2018, the construction and placing the first satellite into orbit in 2018-2020. The first stage costs about 15 million rubles and is already subsidized. Now the company looks for investors for the second and the third stages, worth 2-55 million rubles and about 300 million rubles respectively. “Lin Industrial” expects to become break even in 2,5 years after the first launching.

“Lin Industrial”, the only private Russian space rocket manufacturer, was founded in 2014. By the way, the first private American project “Space X”, launched by PayPal co-founder Elon Musk in 2002, since May, 2015 is certified to launch NASA science missions.
