Tajikistan-Russian Bilateral Trade in 2015


In 2015 Tajikistan-Russian bilateral trade volume decreased by 14% and reached 797.5 million USD compared to 928.2 million USD in 2014.


Tajikistan exports to Russia rose to 50.9 million USD (by 37%) while imports fell to 746.7 million USD (by 16%) (see Figure 1).

Tajikistan exports to Russia


Tajikistan primarily exports to Russia the following products (see Figure 2, Table 1):


▪ Cotton (61%)

▪ Ores, slag and ash (17%)

▪ Machinery, nuclear reactors, boilers, etc (6%)

▪ Electrical, electronic equipment (3%)

▪ Edible fruit, nuts, peel of citrus fruit, melons (3%)

▪ Articles of iron or steel (3%)

▪ Articles of apparel, accessories, not knit or crochet (2%)

▪ Optical, photo, technical, medical, etc apparatus (1%)

▪ Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (1%)

▪ Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (1%)

▪ Vehicles other than railway, tramway (1%)

▪ Printed books, newspapers, pictures etc (1%)

▪ Plastics and articles thereof (1%)


In 2015 the imports of Tajikistan made products in Russia experienced a significant rise . The imports of electrical, electronic equipment rise by 34080%; the imports of articles of iron or steel- by 3858%.

Russian exports to Tajikistan


In 2015 Russia has exported to Tajikistan the following products (see Figure 3, Table 2):


▪ Mineral fuels, oils, distillation products, etc (43%)

▪ Iron and steel (11%)

▪ Wood and articles of wood, wood charcoal (8%)

▪ Animal,vegetable fats and oils, cleavage products, etc (5%)

▪ Inorganic chemicals, precious metal compound, isotopes (4%)

▪ Cereal, flour, starch, milk preparations and products (3%)

▪ Electrical, electronic equipment (3%)

▪ Cocoa and cocoa preparations (2%)

▪ Articles of iron or steel (2%)

▪ Stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica, etc articles (2%)

▪ Machinery, nuclear reactors, boilers, etc (1%)

▪ Soaps, lubricants, waxes, candles, modelling pastes (1%)

▪ Fertilizers (1%)

▪ Beverages, spirits and vinegar (1%)


2015 showed a significant rise in Russian exports to Tajikistan of inorganic chemicals, precious metal compound, isotopes (+812%). At the same time the exports of wood and articles of wood, wood charcoal (-51%) showed a significant fall (see Table 2).
