Zambian-Russian Bilateral Trade in 2015


In 2015 Zambian-Russian bilateral trade volume increased by 46% and reached 18.0 million USD compared to 12.3 million USD in 2014.


Zambian exports to Russia rose to 0.3 million USD (by 5%) while imports rose to 17.7 million USD (by 47%) (see Figure 1).

Zambian exports to Russia


Zambia primarily exports to Russia the following products (see Figure 2, Table 1):


▪ Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (74%)

▪ Salt, sulphur, earth, stone, plaster, lime and cement (17%)

▪ Miscellaneous chemical products (8%)

▪ Works of art, collectors pieces and antiques (1%)



In 2015 the imports of Zambian made products in Russia experienced a significant fall. The imports of miscellaneous chemical products fell by 92%; the imports of works of art, collectors pieces and antiques- by 80%.

Russian exports to Zambia


In 2015 Russia has exported to Zambia the following products (see Figure 3, Table 2):


▪ Fertilizers (83%)

▪ Vehicles other than railway, tramway (11%)

▪ Cereals (4%)

▪ Salt, sulphur, earth, stone, plaster, lime and cement (1%)


2015 showed a significant rise in Russian exports to Zambia of machinery, nuclear reactors, boilers (+1580%). At the same time the exports of salt, sulphur, earth, stone, plaster, lime and cement (-71%) showed a significant fall (see Table 2).
