French-Russian Bilateral Trade, 10 months of 2015


In the first 10 months of 2015 French-Russian bilateral trade volume decreased by 48% and reached 10.1 billion USD compared to 19.3 billion USD in the same period of 2014.


French exports to Russia fell to 4.2 billion USD (by 46%) while imports fell to 5.9 billion USD (by 49%) (see Figure 1).

French exports to Russia


France primarily exports to Russia the following products (see Figure 2, Table 1):


▪ Machinery, nuclear reactors, boilers, etc (16%)

▪ Pharmaceutical products (11%)

▪ Electrical, electronic equipment (8%)

▪ Essential oils, perfumes, cosmetics, toileteries (8%)

▪ Miscellaneous chemical products (5%)

▪ Inorganic chemicals, precious metal compound, isotopes (1%)

▪ Vehicles other than railway, tramway (4%)

▪ Optical, photo, technical, medical, etc apparatus (4%)

▪ Organic chemicals (4%)

▪ Plastics and articles thereof (3%)

▪ Aircraft, spacecraft, and parts thereof (12%)

▪ Glass and glassware (1%)

▪ Residues, wastes of food industry, animal fodder (2%)

▪ Beverages, spirits and vinegar. (2%)


In the first 10 months of 2015 the imports of French made products in Russia experienced a significant fall. The imports of vehicles other than railway, tramway fell by 67%; the imports of aircraft, spacecraft, and parts thereof - by 54%.

Russian exports to France


In the first 10 months of 2015 Russia has exported to France the following products (see Figure 3, Table 2):


▪ Mineral fuels, oils, distillation products, etc (85%)

▪ Fertilizers (3%)

▪ Aircraft, spacecraft, and parts thereof (2%)

▪ Aluminium and articles thereof (2%)

▪ Wood and articles of wood, wood charcoal (1%)

▪ Machinery, nuclear reactors, boilers, etc (1%)

▪ Fish, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic invertebrates nes (1%)

▪ Other base metals, cermets, articles thereof (1%)

▪ Iron and steel (1%)

▪ Inorganic chemicals, precious metal compound, isotopes (1%)

▪ Rubber and articles thereof (0.3%)

▪ Electrical, electronic equipment (0.2%)

▪ Organic chemicals (0.2%)

▪ Miscellaneous chemical products (0.1%)


The first 10 months of 2015 showed a significant rise in Russian exports to France of ircraft, spacecraft, and parts thereof (+77%). At the same time the exports of inorganic chemicals, precious metal compound, isotopes (- 69%) showed a significant fall (see Table 2).
