In 2018 Kaliningrad Region exported more than 87 thous. tons of peat for a total amount of $6.8 mln and thus increased the export of this good by 52% in terms of volume and by 30% in terms of value.
In 2018 Kaliningrad’s peat was imported by 9 countries. The largest importers were Germany (53.9%) and Poland (25%). Besides, peat supplies went to Slovakia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Italy, Latvia and Kazakhstan.
Kaliningrad Region accounted for 52% of Russia’s peat export and became the largest peat exporter among Russian regions. This region was followed by Sakhalin Region (10.6%), Pskov Region (9.1%), and the Republic of Karelia (7.5%).
