Ethyl Alcohol Became Bahamas’ Major Export Good To Russia

In 2018 Russia-Bahamas trade turnover increase ninefold compared to 2017 and reached $41.9 mln.

The bilateral trade was boosted by a 9.5-fold increase of Russia’s export to the Islands. In the bilateral trade structure Russia’s export was 236 times more than its import. Russia supplied to Bahamas goods for the total amount of $41.73 mln. The main export goods traditionally were petroleum and oil products (83.7%). These goods were followed by unwrought aluminum (16.3%) and waters, including natural or artificial mineral waters and aerated waters, not containing added sugar or other sweetening matter nor flavored (0.004%). The Bahamas Islands exported to Russia market goods worth $177 thous. and thus decreased its export by 41% compared to 2017. The major export commodity became undenatured ethyl alcohol of an alcoholic strength by volume of less than 80% (98.2%). Among other export goods there were coins not being legal tender (1.4%), instruments and appliances used in medical or veterinary sciences (0.4%), electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits (0.01%).
