In 2018 Russia’s export to France had a 2.4-fold increase compared to 2017 and reached $7.78 bn.
Russia’s import from France also increased (+4.8%) and amounted to $9.56 bn. The bilateral trade turnover went up by 40%. In the trade structure Russia’s import from France was 23% more than its export to this country. Both export and import growth was caused by increased supplies of HS Code 99 (specific goods not included in HS Chapters). In 2017 there were no export or import of these goods, but in 2018 they accounted for 41% ($3.72 bn) of Russia’s export to France. The second largest export commodity became mineral fuels, oils and products of its distillation (41% of export volume, $3.19 bn). Among the major French goods imported by Russia in 2018 there were HS Code 99 goods (23.5%, $2.25 bn), nuclear reactors, boilers and their parts (12.7%, $1.22 bn), essential oils, perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (8.9%, $853 mln) and pharmaceuticals (8.6%, $825 mln).
