Russia Expanded Import From Far-Abroad Countries

In 2018 Russia’s import of goods from the far-abroad countries amounted to $211.96 bn and increased by 4.6% compared to 2017.

But in December this figure went down by 8.3% compared to December 2017. Namely, there was a reduction in supplies of machinery (-15.4%), pharmaceuticals (-7.4%), food products and food raw materials (-6.6%), chemicals (-0.3%).
Nevertheless, in December 2018 Russia increased import of railway locomotives by 6.6%, instruments and optics by 2.5%, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by 4.1%, tobacco by 0.6% compared to previous year’s December.
As for the chemicals imported by Russian from the far-abroad countries, polymers and rubbers went up by 7.9% in terms of value, perfumery and cosmetics rose by 5.2% in terms of value, soap and detergents increased by 1.1% in terms of value, organic and inorganic chemicals increased by 0.9% in terms of value.
