Fish and Fish Products Export Increased in 2018

From January to November, 2018 Russia’s export of fish and sea products hit $2 bn, Rosrybolovstvo reports. The export volume increased by 4.2% compared to the same period of 2017.


The export growth was caused mostly by increased supplies of crustaceans, mollusks and other aquatic invertebrates (+3.6%, 112.9 thous. tn), fish fillets and other fish meat (+5.3%, 116.5 thous. tn), frozen fish (+4.2%, 1.8 mln tn). In contrast, prepared or preserved fish products export reduced by 3.9% to 16.2 thous. tn.

According to the Federal Custom Service of Russia, frozen Alaska pollack accounted for 40% of all Russia’s export in this category. Frozen Alaska pollack export stood at 669.7 thous. tn and decreased by 11.6% compared to the same period of 2017, while frozen herring export increased by 2.1% to 180.7 thous. tn.
From January to November fish products import reached 532.6 thous. tn and thus increased by 1%, including prepared or preserved fish products (93 thous. tn, +26%), fresh or chilled fish (32 thous. tn, +14%), crustaceans, mollusks and other invertebrates (55.3 thous. tn, +4.7%), fish fillets and other fish meat (61.4 thous. tn, +1.6%). Russia’s import of frozen fish reduced by 6.6% to 269.3 thous. tn.
