Russia’s Sugar Export Reduced in 2018

According to Souzrossahar, in 2018 Russia’s sugar export amounted to 350 thous. tn and reduced by 55.7% compared to 2017 (545 thous. tn).

It is a 1.6-fold decrease. The main importers of Russian sugar were Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Reduction of sugar production and export is forecasted to continue in 2019 due to poor sugar beet harvest that stood at 41.2 mln tn in 2018 compared to 51.9 mln tn in 2017.
