For the first seven months of 2018 Kaliningrad Region has exported 48.5 tn of poppy seeds worth $155.7 thous. This commodity has been supplied to Kazakhstan (87%) and Kyrgyzstan (13%).
Kaliningrad Region has become the largest poppy seeds exporter among Russian regions and accounted for 42.5% of national export of this production. According to the Federal Custom Service of Russia, in 2017 there was no poppy seeds export from Kaliningrad Region. From January to July, 2018 18 Russian regions have exported 96.5 tn of poppy seeds worth $366.3 thous. Alongside with Kaliningrad Region other poppy seeds exporters are Novosibirsk Region (15%), Rostov Region (14%), Chelyabinsk Region (6%), Kursk and Omsk Regions (4% each) and others.
