Eurasian Economic Commission Set Tariff Quotas for Agricultural Products

On August 28, 2018 the Eurasian Economic Commission Board has set 2018 tariff quotas for some agricultural products imported to the EAEU from third countries.

Tariff quotas are established according to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union in order to make good the Union’s deficit in meat for processing and milk whey.

During the transition period the Republic of Armenia applies lower import tariff rates than those of the EAEU United Customs Tariff, so Armenia will not have any tariff quotas for meat for processing and milk whey next year.

Tariff quotas for the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation are set pursuant to their obligations in the World Trade Organization. In 2019 Kazakhstan will be allowed to import 21 thous. tn of cattle meat and 140 thous. tn of poultry meat within the tariff quotas. In 2019 tariff quotas volume for Russia will be 570 thous. tn of cattle meat, 430 thous. tn of pork (including pork trimmings), 364 thous. tn of poultry meat and 15 thous. tn of milk whey.

Tariff quotas volumes for the Republic of Belarus and the Kyrgyz Republic are set considering they proposals based on the margin between forecast demand and production in these countries. In 2019 tariff quotas volume for Belarus will be 20 thous. tn of pork, 10 thous. tn of boned chicken meat and 0.9 thous. tn of turkey meat, while tariff quotas volume for Kyrgyzstan will be 7 thous. tn of cattle meat, 3.5 thous. tn of pork and 56 thous. tn of poultry meat.
