According to the Federal Custom Service of Russia, from January to May, 2018 Russia’s import of live bees has amounted to $1.3 mln, it is a 37% decrease compared to the same period of 2017.
Russia’s import of live bees is almost 5 times as much as its export. Russia imports mostly honey bees (73.3%).
As for the geographic structure of Russia’s import, Uzbekistan ranks 1st (59%), Slovakia ranks 2nd (26.4%), Ukraine ranked 3rd (14.3%) and Belgium ranks 4th (0.3%).
Kurgan Region is the largest importer of live bees among Russian regions. Kurgan Region has imported live bees worth $705.2 thous. and accounted for 54.1% of all Russia’s import of this good. The other top-regions that imported live bees were Moscow Region ($344.5 thous., 26.4%) and Omsk Region (126 thous., 9.7%).
