Import of Second Hand Clothes from Europe Grew by 27%

In 2017 Russia imported worn clothing and other worn textile articles with a total weight of 45 thous. tn and a total value of $149 mln.

The import volume of this production increased by 27% compared to 2016.

The main part of second hand clothes (78.4%) was imported to Russia from Germany (23.7%, worth $35.5 mln), Belgium (16.4%, $24.5 mln), the Netherlands (15.4%, $22.9 mln), Poland (7.9%, $11.8 mln), Lithuania (7.7%, $11.5 mln) and Estonia (7.4%, $11 mln).

The leading importers of second hand clothes among Russian regions were Moscow city (36.6%, worth $54.7 mln) and Kaliningrad Region (36.1%, $54 mln). Moscow city increased its import of worn clothing by 56% compared to 2016, while Kaliningrad Region’s import growth was 6%.
