Russia’s Planting Potatoes Import Larger Than Export

According to the Federal Custom Service of Russia, in 2017 Russia’s import of planting potatoes amounted to $16.63 mln with the total weight of 27.8 thous. tn. The import volume was 4 times larger than the export one.

In 2017 Russia’s import of planting potatoes increased both in terms of value and in terms of volume (by 54% and by 62% compared to 2016).

Planting potatoes were imported to Russia from the Netherlands (31.9%), Germany (26.2%), Belarus (21.6%), Finland (9.7%), the United Kingdom (3.4%), Turkey (3.3%), China (2.5%), Poland (1.2%), Kazakhstan (0.1%), Kyrgyzstan (0.03%) and France (0.01%).
