Russia Increases Imports of Sieves, Riddles

Russia’s imports of such simple domestic utensils as hand sieves and hand riddles increased by 14% in value terms and by 40% in physical terms in 2017, outstripping exports nine times.

Russia’s imports of such simple domestic utensils as hand sieves and hand riddles increased by 14% in value terms and by 40% in physical terms in 2017, outstripping exports nine times.

In 2017, Russia imported 8.2m sieves and riddles to $2.33m, while its exports stood only at 88,200 worth $260,000.

Russia’s key supplier of sieves and riddles is China which accounted for 86% of the total imports (6.8m to $2m) in 2017, followed, by a large margin, by Italy ($75,000, or 3.2%), India ($55,000, or 2.4%), Belarus ($50,600, or 2.2%) and the United States ($27,400, or 1.2%).

China is also the leading supplier of the utensils in physical terms — 6.8m sieves and riddles sold in Russia last year were Chinese-made, making up 83% of the total imports, followed by Belarus (1.2m, or 13%).
