Russia’s key silk textile suppliers were Italy, which accounted for 31% of Russia’s total imports in 2017, closely followed by Kazakhstan (29%), the traditional China (28%), and, by a large margin, the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Switzerland, Belarus, France, Belgium and the United States.
The biggest silk consumers among the Russian regions in 2017 were Moscow, which imported to $1.98m and accounted for 65% of the total imports, and St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk and Moscow Regions, which shared, among themselves, 32% of the total imports.
