Tyumen Region exported 41,000 tons of mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) to $37m in 2017 — six times more than the previous year.
The key importers of Tyumen’s chemical were Belarus which imported to $32.9m and Kazakhstan ($4.2m).
Russia’s total MEG exports stood at 125,400 tons worth $106m, the leading exporters being Tatarstan and Tyumen; combined, these two regions account for 71% of the national total.
Mono-ethylene glycol, a durable frost-resistant chemical, is used:
- in automotive winter coolants and brake fluids;
- to prevent accumulation of water in aircraft and diesel fuels;
- on offshore natural gas rigs;
- as a heat carrier in transport and computers; and
