Murmansk Region in the North of European Russia exported 455.000 tons of mineral fertilizers to $115.5million in the first quarter of 2018 and became the leader in fertilizer exports, accounting for 28% of the national total.
Murmansk exports two types of chemical fertilizers: one type containing two or three elements (58%), and the other, nitrogenous only.
The biggest importers of Murmansk’s fertilizers in January-March 2018 were Finland which imported to $28.6million (24.7% of the region’s exports); United States ($16.7m, or 14.5%), Brazil ($9m, or 8%), Estonia ($8.6m, or 7.4%), and Ecuador ($7.6m, or 6.6%). The top five importers account for 61.2% of Murmansk fertilizer exports in the first three month of 2018.
The remaining 38.8% were shared by Romania (6.2%), Belgium (5.3%), Poland (5.1%), France (4.2%), Cameroon (2.9%), Denmark (2.7%), Turkey 2.1%), Belarus (1.8%), Netherlands (1.6%), Latvia (1.4%), Côte d'Ivoire (1.4%), Lithuania (1.2%), South Africa (1.2%), Moldova (0.6%), Kazakhstan (0.4%), Colombia (0.2%), Panama (0.1%), Dominican Republic (0.1%), Iraq (0.1%), and Paraguay (0.03%).
Russia exported 1.8m tons of chemical fertilizers to $408.8million in the first quarter 2018 — a 75% fall on last year in value terms.
Chemical fertilizers containing two or three mineral elements made up 50% of Russia’s exports in 2018. Nitrogenous fertilizers made up 49%. The remaining 1% was potassium-based chemicals.
