Southern Siberia’s Irkutsk Region exported 5.7million tons of sawn lumber to $1.3billion in 2017 — a record 29% increase in value terms from 2016, and became Russia’s largest industrial wood exporter.
The largest importers of Southern Siberian sawn lumber in 2017 were China, which accounted for a 64% share in Irkutsk’s last year’s exports, worth $831million, Japan (17%) and Uzbekistan (5%).
