Rostov Region Boosts Wheat Exports

Rostov Region’s exports of cereals surged by 44% to 14.4m tons worth $242 million in 2017, increasing the region’s share to 32% in total Russian grain exports and taking it to the first place among Russia’s cereal exporters.

Wheat and meslin accounted for 84% of Rostov’s grain exports, followed, by a large margin, by barley (11%) and maize (5%). Buckwheat, millet, sorghum, rye, rice and oats make 0.4% of the region’s exports. The leading importers of Rostov’s cereals in 2017 were Egypt (30%), Turkey (14%), Bangladesh (11%), Saudi Arabia (5.3%) and Indonesia (4.6%).
