New heavy-weight rigs plant launches in Russia

A formal opening ceremony has taken place in the Kurgan Region in connection with the launching of a new production facility that will manufacture equipment for drilling oil wells.

The facility will make high-tech heavy-weight horizontal drilling machines which may be sought-after by such tycoons as Rosneft and Gazprom Neft, including for their Extreme North operations. It is reported that the order portfolio is already full for the next 2 to 2.5 years.

The first implementation stage of the investment project is estimated to cost RUB 1 bln. It is expected to create not less than 500 new job opportunities. In the long view, this place is going to offer 800 to 1000 jobs. SLC Rus's plans for 2017 contemplate investing another RUB 100 mln to develop the facility. The new plant is going to be officially registered in May. It is going to start operating at full capacity by 2019.

SLC Group is a joint Russian-Chinese enterprise designed to manufacture, deliver, adapting and maintain drilling equipment and other products for the oil and gas industry.
