Boeing and VSMPO-AVISMA to erect their second joint factory in Sverdlovsk Region

Boeing, a U.S. airspace corporation, and VSMPO-AVISMA, a member company of Rostech Group, are going to construct a greenfield plant to process titanium press-work.

An appropriate agreement was signed by Sergei Kravchenko, Boeing's CEO responsible for Russian and CIS operations, and Mikhail Shelkov, a Deputy Chairman of VSMPO-AVISMA's Board of Directors.

The new plant is going to be located in "Titanium Valley" Special Economic Zone in the Sverdlovsk Region. The new site will deal with the fine finishing of titanium press-work for such Boeing branded aircrafts as 787 Dreamliner, 737 MAX and 777X. The new workshop is planned to be opened in the 1Q 2018. It will operate alongside with already-existing Ural Boeing Manufacturing (a joint facility owned by Boeing and VSMPO-AVISMA launched in 2009).

Currently, VSMPO-AVISMA accommodates about 35% of Boeing's needs for titanium products. The first contract between Boeing and VSMPO-AVISMA dates back to 1997 and was renewed in 2014 to be valid through 2020.
