A new deep-water port is going to be constructed in Arkhangelsk. Investments required to implement the project may potentially be made by Poly International Holding Co. (China). So far, only an agreement of intent has been signed.

The port is planned to be constructed 55 kilometers north of the city of Arkhangelsk, in close vicinity to the Mud'jug Island. The implementation of the project is included in the "Russian Federation's Transport Strategy for the Period Through 2030." The Arkhangelsk Deep-Water Port's cargo turnover is expected to have reached around 30 million tonnes by 2030.

Thanks to the creation of the new port, more attractive cargo routes for export and import operations will be established to Europe, the USA and Asia.
