Smolensk Region hosts Hungarian-Russian Business Forum

The office of Smolensk's Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hosted an international forum called "Small businesses. Growth and Communication Development Prospects for Russia and Hungary."

The Hungarian party was represented at the forum by delegates from the business community of the city of Gerien who visited the Smolensk Region for business purposes. The delegation was headed by Mayor Karoy Romhani.

In the course of the forum, Stanislav Kulazhnikov, the Region Promotion Director of the Smolensk Region Investment Development Corporation, described his Hungarian colleagues the investment potential featured by the Smolensk Region while representatives of regional businesses held presentations showing their business activities. The foreign party, in its turn, presented the Russians a number of projects that were being implemented in Hungary for the time being. Paksi Dunamenti Zrt., a Hungarian agroindustrial conglomerate growing agricultural crops and dealing with stock-rearing, expressed its interest in implementing a project in the Smolensk Region.

Another Hungarian company, Kindergarten Football public fund, was offered by the Smolensk Region Investment Development Department to consider launching a production facility in the Smolensk Region and then entering the Russian market. This company presented at the forum a multipurpose recreation ground called KA2AL KINDERPITCH developed for preschool children and suitable for various types of sports such as football, handball, basketball, badminton, tennis, and also for numerous agility exercises. The ground comprises components that may be dismantled and brought to another site at minimum cost.

Next day, the forum events continued in Desnogorsk.

We remind that a memorandum of cooperation was executed between the municipal formation Gerien (Hungary) and Desnegorsk (Russia) one year ago providing for sharing experience in industry, SMEs, culture, education and promotion of patriotism among citizens.

At that time, Desnogorsk and Gerien acquired the status of twin cities. Apart from that, the parties expressed their wish to share experience as regards interaction between local governments' executive authorities and nuclear plants located in their jurisdictions, focusing on sharing experience in constructing nuclear thermal power stations.

The action plan approved for 2016 envisages visits of Hungarian delegations to the Smolensk Region.
