Selgros Cash & Carry, an international retail chain, is going to open four new stores in Russia, as announced by Michael Zipfel, the CEO of the company's Russian operations, to journalists.

Investments into the three Cash & Carry trade centers and one food supermarket may exceed RUB 3.5 billion. The first trade center is going to open its doors in Tula in December with another two (one of which will operate in Odintsovo) opening in the next year.

Selgros is going to try a brand new supermarket format in Russia from 2018 onward. Thus far, the chain focused on big trade centers, both wholesale and retail, in Russia, where the chain operates eight stores as at today, and in other countries such as Germany (43 trade centers), Poland (16 stores) and Romania (19 stores).

Russia currently hosts eight Selgros trade centers: three stores in Moscow, one store in Kotelniki, Moscow Region, one store in Ryazan, one store in Kazan, one store in Rostov-on-Don and one store in Volgograd. Selgros chain is studying 20 different Russian cities for their potential to host new stores.

Selgros Group is 100% owned by Transgourmet Holding AG, the holding company of Coop-Groop (Switzerland).
