A 8.5 bln metallurgic facility to be erected near St. Petersburg

JSC Izhora-Metal Forging & Mechanical Plant intends to have a metallurgical facility constructed by 2018–2020 in the city of Kolpin to comprise an electric-furnace melting workshop, forge-and-pressing workshop, machining workshop, thermal workshop and warehousing facilities. The facility capable of producing 60,000 to 80,000 tonnes of bullions and 46,000 forged pieces per annum, is planned to be launched in 2022, according to Oleg Danchenko, the Executive Director of Izhora-Metal. Investments in the project are going to total RUB 8.5 billion with the payback period being 5.6 years. The Governor's Investment Council awarded the project the status of a strategic one thus enabling the company to obtain a 18-hectare land plot of appropriate designation.

According to Mr. Danchenko, 15% of project costs are intended to be paid by the company using its own funds and the balance is expected to be raised from co-investors. Interest in the project has been expressed by PSJ, a Czech construction company, and ALTA, an industrial and engineering group, and negotiations are ongoing with an Arab company, according to Mr. Danchenko.
