Japanese company offers to develop gas chemical sector in Sakhalin

Mitsui considers Sakhalin as an investment attractive location. The development of a number of areas for bilateral cooperation has been discussed today between Governor Oleg Kozhemyako and CEO of Mitsui's Natural Gas Division No.4 Kadzumasa Miadzava.

The discussion primarily focused on cooperation in the production industry. For MItsiu, that has been participating in developing major oil and gas deposits under Sakhalin-2 Project since 1992, the construction of the 3rd process string at its LNG facility was a key topic. At the same time, the Japanese partners see a great potential in creating gas chemical facilities in the Region to subsequently receive highly refined products with the Sakhalin party also taking interest in the Japanese technology featured by mini-LNG plants. Moreover, experts originating from the Land of the Rising Sun are ready to offer up-to-date solutions enabling effective gas utilization, e.g. via equipment designed for motor vehicles.

The meeting resulted in agreements to continue constructive dialog with the Japanese partners to move all potential areas of cooperation forward.
