UK's SFIL to strengthen Nord Stream 2 with special brackets
Sheffield Forgemasters International (SFIL), the oldest UK metallurgic company, has manufactured and delivered special brackets for clamping the pipes of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The work was completed based on an order placed by the countries participating in the project. This was reported by Offshore Technology.
The brackets will be used in the course of restoration work, in case of abnormal emergency necessitating the resumption of gas flow via alternative pipes bypassing the failing section. The brackets will be delivered for Nord Stream 2 whose length will total 1,244 kilometers.
The Nord Stream Project, which has already been put into operation, uses twin tubes. The capacity of each of the two strings is 27.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per annum.
