Representatives of Kamai, a Japanese company, have visited Tiksi village, Bulunsky District, Yakutia, to select a future construction site for their potential wind farm.

The delegation inspected the topography of the future construction site. The Japanese investors also concerned themselves with transport logistics required to deliver equipment. According to the sea port's administration, Tiksi's navigation season is from 15 July through 30 September.

Furthermore, the Japanese party inspected the site and structural components of Yakutia's only wind turbine which used to function but suffered in autumn 2015 due to strong winds and a blizzard.

It is noted that the Bulunsky District is the most promising area for installing wind farms due to strong winds. Wind speed in Tiksi village sometimes reaches up to 35 m/sec. Average annual wind speed is 5.8 m/sec.

In September 2015, during the Eastern Economic Forum, a Memorandum of Cooperation was executed in Vladivostok between PJSC RAO Energy Systems of the East and KOMAI HALTEC Inc.

It was reported previously that RAO Energy Systems of the East and Japanese Kamai plan to install wind farms in Tiksi village in Yakutia.

CEO of RAO Energy Systems of the East Sergey Tolstoguzov told that Japanese Kamai plans to deliver pilot wind farms to see their life performance. It is Yakutia where the farms are supposed to operate adequately, calmly and all year round under the conditions of low temperatures.
