Syngenta, one of the world's largest producers of seeds and plant protection means, intends to boost its Russian operations. The Company plans to increase its sales pertaining to this product from 40 to 50%. This news has been confirmed by Jonathan Brown, the Company's CEO in Russia.

Previously, in late May, to address these tasks, the company opened in the city of Mikhailovsk, Stavropol Territory, a seed quality monitoring laboratory for more than RUB 60 million. Another 15 million will be allocated in the years to come. The lab deals with measurements relating to humidity, viability, germinating capacity, physical purity and other parameters. The lab will also be used to prepare samples for testing and treating batches to be tested with protective means. The lab is capable of completing 8,000 tests during one production season with its capacity being expected to increase to 30,000 in the years to come. The number of regions from which seeds will be delivered for tests is also expected to be increased. Now, the lab is used to test seeds delivered from the Kuban and Belgorod Region.
