A project is about to commence in Yakutia in a short time providing for the construction at an area of 8.2 hectares of a year-round greenhouse compound for growing vegetables, herbs and lettuce that will comprise a heat-and-energy center, office, storage and auxiliary premises.

We remind that in March this year Yakutsk was visited by CEO of Hokkaido Corporation Mr. Yukia Temma. In the course of his working visit, aspects of implementing the investment project were discussed in connection with the potential construction in Kangalassi Industrial Park (advanced social and economic development territory) of a year-round greenhouse facility. The meeting between Yakutsk District Administration, JSCB Almazergienbank and Hokkaido Corporation resulted in the execution of a memorandum on implementing the investment project.

The project will be implemented in 3 stages, the first of which will commence as early as this year already. Local specialists will be sent to Japan for internship as part of the project.

A contract has been executed with Hokkaido Corporation for the delivery of materials and equipment required to build the year-round greenhouse based on Japanese technology. The commodities are scheduled to be supplied in late June this year. Representatives of the Japanese company will supervise the construction of the compound, assemble and install the frame and internal equipment and do startup and commissioning operations to launch the automation system.

The greenhouse will feature equipment and utility systems enabling the continuous "protected ground" production of vegetables, automatic microclimate control, mineral nutrition and minimum use of hand labor.

The total design capacity of the project will allow to annually sell up to 480,000 tonnes of tomatoes, 1,344 thousand tonnes of cucumbers and 384,000 tonnes of herbs. The first phase of the year-round greenhouse is expected to be completed as early as in September 2016 with the first crop scheduled to be secured in December this year.
