The Altai Territory offers investors to construct in the Region a biofactory to produce import-substituting milk starters that are of high demand in the Russian market. Vice Governor NIkolai Chinyakov of the Altai Territory said that the project ranks among top perspective offers.

"The milk starters market is critically dependent on deliveries of imported products. Starters, which are manufactured in our country, require improvement. And we feature a great potential for addressing this challenge. For example, this topic is being explored by the Siberian Cheese-Making Research Institute located in Barnaul", the Vice Governor said.

According to him, the institute possesses a certain set of strains to be used as a basis for creating starters.

"We say to our potential investors that we have competencies, people who are "very knowledgeable in this area", and a set of strains that may be used as a basis to arrange the production of starters not only in the Altai Territory, but across Siberia and the Russian Far East to be further extended to Russia-wide market arena", Mr. Chinyakov said.

The cost of the project may differ depending on the scale of the future facility. According to the Vice Governor, the project has already been discussed with a number of investors.
