Israeli dairymen see rationale for cooperation with Voronezh businesses

A delegation of the Israeli Dairy Council while visiting the Voronezh Region saw a basis for cooperating with local businesses, according to the Regional Government.

The Region has been visited by Itzhak Schneider, the Vice President of the Israeli Dairy Council and leader of the delegation, Ofi Raih, the Chief Executive Director of Hachaklait (a cooperative offering veterinary service), Liron Tamir, the Chief Economist of the Israeli Dairy Council, and other officials. A meeting held in the office of Governor Alexey Gordeev was also attended by Arkady Ponomarev, a Deputy of the State Duma and Chairman of the Russian Dairy Union.

Previously, the Israeli delegation visited prominent dairy facilities owned by Voronezh Dairy Plant known as Molvest and a dairy farm in Arkhangelskoye village.

Itzhak Schneider emphasized that they have seen "very strong farms, very up-to-date and serious". Liron Tamir noted that Voronezh-based enterprises enjoy Israeli hardware and software. "This may become a basis to continue our cooperation", the Chief Economist of the Israeli Dairy Council summarized.

When talking about the operations of JSC Molvest, Governor Alexey Gordeev noted that this is a unique company comprising large farms producing raw milk and several processing facilities. The creation of an educational institution devoted to personnel training is being considered now.

"Today, there are 16 large farms in the Region. This number is planned to be increased to about 35, i.e. we would like to double it. I know that there is an intergovernmental plan between Russia and Israel designed to develop cooperation in the dairy segment exactly. We would like to join this co-plan as a Russian region and consider options for developing the rest of the farms taking the Israeli experience into account", Alexey Gordeev said.
