Head of the Smolensk Region Investment Development Department Rostislav Rovbel has held a working meeting with a delegation from the Taraklia District, Republic of Moldova.

The mission of the Moldova party's visit is to establish friendly relations and make necessary efforts to further enhance and develop long-term cooperation in economy, trade, science, technology, culture, tourism, sports and healthcare.

At the meeting, Kirill Tatarli, a representative of Moldova, unveiled the Taraklia District to Smolensk natives and told about the District's prospects. In his turn, Rostislav Rovbel invited businessmen from Moldova to localize and launch joint venture facilities in the Smolensk Region.

The event resulted in the parties having agreed on specific negotiations that will involve representatives of the Smolensk Region's and Moldova's respective business communities.

The Taraklia District is a political subdivision of the Republic of Moldova. The city of Taraklia is its administrative center. This is the only region of contemporary Moldova which is absolutely dominated by non-Moldavian population. The major portion of the population (65.6 %) is comprised of ethnic Bulgarians. It also a home for a great number of other peoples.
