Representatives of the German company have visited the Obninsk-based enterprise and highly appraised its potential.

E-Volo GmbH, Germany, which has invented an ultralight electric helicopter of new Volocopter class, is considering opportunities for establishing partnership relations with Tekhnologiya Research Center located in Obninsk (Kaluga Region). Representatives of the German company have visited the Obninsk-based enterprise and highly appraised its potential.

As reported by the Press Office of Tekhnologiya, the fact that Volocopter is a super light helicopter makes the weight and strength parameters of its components specially important. Tekhnologiya features a great experience in the development and batch production of figurine-shaped items made of composite materials and ultralight aviation glassing.

As compared with many projects existing today, Volocopter is considerably simpler, safer and, not least importantly, more environmentally friendly. The first two development prototypes designed for two passengers are equipped with a block of batteries enabling the copter to fly for 20 to 30 minutes. 18 main rotors are one of Volocopter' key features enabling it to do a hover take-off and landing and guarantying safe flight even if some of the rotors break down. It is expected that Volocopter will be capable of flying at a height of up to two kilometers and carry up to 450 kilograms of cargo.
