German company started the construction of the pig-breeding farm Tonnies Fleisch «Trostyanets» Ostrogozhsk district of Voronezh region. Its cost is estimated 1 billion rubles.

New pig-breeding appears in the Voronezh region

Voronezh-based LLC Don Bacon (a member of Don agricultural company owned by German group Tonnies Fleisch) has commenced the construction of its second RUB 1 bln pig farm to be called "Trostyansky" in the Ostrogozhsk District. The foreign investor plans to have 10 such farms operating at full design capacity in the region by 2022.

The new Ostrogozhsk enterprise is expected to nestle 2.5 thousand breeding pigs and produce 7,000 tonnes of meat on hoof annually. The first animals are going to be brought to the pig farm nearer to the end of this year. The construction is expected to be completed in 2017.

Moreover, the Region's first pig farm called "Olshansky" has been in operation since 2015. The farm produced about 6,000 tonnes of meat last year.

Tonnies Fleisch and Agroimport, a domestic company, announced in 2012 that they were going to construct 10 pig farms and a meat factory in the Voronezh Region whose aggregate annual capacity would be 62.5 thousand tonnes of meat and could be even doubled. The Russian company withdrew from the project, but Tonnies has not dropped its plans. It came to light in March 2015 that the company was planning to construct two trade sites in the Belgorod Region and two sites in the Voronezh Region with the total amount to be invested being RUB 3 billion.

Tonnies Fleisch is one of major German meat producers. Its head office is located in Reda Wiedenbruck. In the Central Black Earth Region, the company is represented by enterprises operating in the Belgorod Region and Voronezh Region.
