Mikhail Rokotkin, a Deputy General Director of Haval Motor Rus, has told about the automotive business's prospects amid the crisis and the Chinese brand's plans in relation to the Russian market.

"We have plans on how to enter the Russian market, but they are very careful", Mr. Rokotkin said. "So far, we have 4 dealers. However, the number of dealers willing to work with us is 10 times greater. I could easily open 40 dealer centers in various towns. But we don't do that because our head office aims not to rush things.

On 20 May 2014, an agreement was executed in China with the Government of the Tula Region on constructing a 216-hectare Great Wall Motor car plant that will manufacture off-road vehicles. The construction of the car plant commenced in August 2014. The facility will be located in the Uzlovaya Technical Park at a distance of 190 kilometers from Moscow and 40 kilometers from Tula, featuring comfortable transport accessibility. The plant will be designed as part of a single design package and will be constructed in two phases. The plant will manufacture HAVAL branded off-roaders and crossovers. It will comprise press, welding, painting, assembling and spare parts production shops.

Haval Motor Manufacturing Rus is expected to launch its car production in 2017. Its initial production capacity will be 80,000 cars p.a. to be increased later to 150,000 cars p.a. It is planned that the commissioning of the first phase will create approximately 2,000 new jobs with the second phase creating a total of 2,500+ jobs.
