An Italian company producing and processing milk, comprising 12 plants operating in Italy, 2 plants in France and one facility in Chile, has voiced its wish to invest in milk processing in the Kaluga Region.

An Italian company producing and processing milk, comprising 12 plants operating in Italy, 2 plants in France and one facility in Chile, has voiced its wish to invest in milk processing in the Kaluga Region.

As reported by Leonid Gromov, the Head of the Ministry of Agriculture, at a meeting of the Regional Government, negotiations took place last week in Italy which, apart from Leonid Gromov himself, were attended by representatives of Agro Invest, a company dealing with out-of-door planting in the Lyudinovsky District. Having created a joint venture company with this entity, the Italians intend to embark on milk production and processing. The project contemplates the construction of a milk factory capable of processing 200 tonnes of milk per day and five dairy farms featuring 2.5 thousand cows each. The Italians are going to visit Kaluga and meet with Governor Anatoly Artamonov in the middle of April this year.

"Our experience in making robotized milk has sparked their interest. They have heard a lot but Italy virtually lacks any robotized farms. That is why there is our mutual interest", Mr. Gromov said.
